Contract harder Strategies for accelerating negotiations

Negotiation - it's a fact of life. But delays in contract negotiations can hinder business growth and opportunities, so it's crucial to arm yourself with strategies to get through negotiations quickly. During this 40-minute session, our panel will share their in-depth insights, successful strategies, and practical tips for achieving the right outcomes, whilst accelerating contract negotiations.

Generative AI has immense potential to pick up the heavy lifting on contract drafting - but how do you leverage that power safely? In this session we'll discuss the potential benefits, challenges, and ethical considerations associated with AI-powered contracts. Led by legal design luminary Marie Potel-Saville, attendees will collaboratively review and improve poorly written contracts in small groups in a dynamic workshop. Together, we'll discover practical ways to enhance contract design and streamline the agreement process.

Marie Potel-Saville is the founder and CEO of Amurabi, a legal innovation by design agency. After over 10 years at Magic Circle firms in London, Brussels and Paris, she held senior in-house roles at Estée Lauder and Chanel, before founding Amurabi. Marie has trained at ENSCI and obtained a Master in Innovation by Design. She works to bridge the gap between law and its users.

Alexis Alexander joined Liberis in 2018, building its global in-house legal function. She helped the business scale across Europe and the US and saw it through both series B and C fundraising rounds. She originally trained and practised at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer. In 2022, The Lawyer magazine named Alexis as General Counsel of the Year.

Richard Mabey is the co-founder and CEO of Juro: one of the UK's leading legal technology scale-ups. A former M&A lawyer at Freshfields, Richard founded Juro in 2016. In 2019, he was named one of the top ten legal technologists globally by the FT, and was recently shortlisted for the scale-up entrepreneur of the year by the Great British Entrepreneur Awards.

Emma Humphrey is the General Counsel and Company Secretary for Timeout Group. Her career journey has taken her through diverse in-house roles, ranging from tech startups to established corporates. Emma excels in adapting legal advice, optimizing corporate governance, and managing risks.

Gifty joined Xero in 2019, a leading business platform that fosters connections among accountants, bookkeepers, bankers, and financial services professionals. She was previously an Associate at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer. She was nominated for the In House Rising Star award at the British Legal Awards 2023.

Will Scrimshaw is General Counsel at BenevolentAI, responsible for all legal and compliance matters. He has held senior legal and policy positions at a variety of technology and communications organisations including Microsoft, Skype and BT before joining BenevolentAI in 2019.

Michael Haynes is General Counsel at Juro. Michael has years of experience taking leading roles in legal teams at fast-growth companies. He was Group Head of Legal at Cazoo, after senior roles at RVU and Zoopla (ZPG). Michael trained at practised at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer before moving in-house.

Bobby joined Volt in 2022, helping Volt navigate through their recent Series B fund raise, and alongside the GC, overseeing the growth of the Volt legal team. Before joining Volt, Bobby was an associate at Bird & Bird, working on Allwyn's successful bid for the license to run the National Lottery and completing secondments to both Warner Bros and, most recently, Burberry.
