Ken Siegel is an advisor in Wilson Sonsini’s Executive Advisory Program, based in Palo Alto. With deep experience across corporate governance, finance, cybersecurity, and intellectual property, Ken offers practical, business-focused guidance to private and public companies in industries like software, semiconductor equipment, and security solutions.

Ken began his legal career at Wilson Sonsini in 1986, becoming a partner in 1993. He later served as a senior legal leader at various technology companies, including as EVP and Chief Legal Officer at Nuance Communications, where he led a team of 60 and advised on global legal matters and board transitions. Previously, as General Counsel at Cyan, he guided the company’s 2013 IPO and its $480 million acquisition by Ciena. He also held executive legal roles at SafeNet, Verigy, Agile Software, and Efficient Networks.

Horizon-scanning: what’s next for scaleup lawyers?

With scaleup lawyers striving to work proactively, instead of reactively, what are the issues on the horizon that keep them up at night?

Richard Mabey is the CEO and co-founder of Juro, the intelligent contract automation platform. Under his leadership, Juro has scaled rapidly, backed by $38 million in venture funding from prominent investors including Eight Roads, USV, Point Nine Capital and Seedcamp, and the founders of companies like Indeed, Gumtree and Wise.

Richard trained and qualified at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, working as an M&A associate in London and New York. He gained an MBA from INSEAD, and then spent time at LegalZoom, learning to build legal tech products.

Frustrated by the manual legal processes that slow down businesses, Richard co-founded Juro in 2016, with a mission to help the world agree contracts faster. Beyond Juro, he hosts the "Brief Encounters" podcast, makes angel investments, and supports other ambitious ventures from the boardroom. Richard is a Fellow of the RSA, an adviser to The Entrepreneurs Network and sits as a Non-executive Director of Bright Blue.
