Entourage Health Corp., formerly WeedMD RX Inc., is a Canadian cannabis producer and distributor known for brands like Color Cannabis, Saturday Cannabis, and Dime Bag.
Founded in 2013, the company went public in 2017 and has grown significantly through brand acquisitions and adapting with the evolving cannabis industry.
As the company evolved, its approach to contracting has too.
The challenge: painful contracting
Entourage’s universe of contracts scaled quickly as the company grew, with different teams processing commercial agreements, employment contracts, and NDAs in large volumes each month.
However, as the company grew, contracting became painful. Several teams started to experience friction, with a fragmented and inefficient process making contracts difficult to find and control.
“Pre-Juro, it was a very manual process,” says Samara Doobay, Legal Counsel. “Everything was spread between email and Word, with back and forth meetings to agree contracts; and we had nowhere to store or access these centrally.”

The legal team wasn’t the only department finding contracting painful. Mimi Mulhall, VP People, was also keen to digitize processes and improve consistency:
“Previous teams had different styles of developing employment contracts. They were vastly different with varied language, processes, and tones,” Mimi explained.
“We had to untangle all of our existing contracts and start with a clean slate, with everyone on the same terms in the future,” says Mimi.
Both legal and HR wanted to win back the time they were losing to admin and regain confidence in their contracts.
The requirements: what did Entourage need?
Entourage needed a faster, more consistent way to agree contracts that delivered value across the business.
More specifically, Entourage wanted:
- To increase contracting efficiency: Entourage needed to bring all contracts and workflows into a unified workspace equipped to manage all kinds of agreements, from venture letters for board members to NDAs and employment contracts
- A platform multiple teams could adopt: Entourage needed a platform that would be enjoyed and adopted by legal and business teams, allowing the HR department to self-serve confidently within the platform on their own agreements
- Greater visibility into contracts: Entourage needed to regain visibility into contracts by moving them out of inboxes and centralizing oversight with the legal team to facilitate a more consistent and thorough review process
- Standardized templates and workflows: Entourage’s HR department needed to transform the contract management process end-to-end, so they needed a tool that offered robust templating capabilities, customizable workflows, and more
The solution: a platform designed for legal and business teams
Entourage’s legal team selected and implemented Juro in 2021 to streamline its own workflows, and they onboarded the HR team as end users quickly after.
“We never had any issues with implementation. The training for both teams was super simple and Juro’s support team was great at bringing the HR team into the platform, training them, and helping customize our back-end to fit HR’s needs,” says Samara.
“When legal onboarded with Juro it was about the technology; how to get contracts in, and how to tag them. When HR came on board, the focus expanded to exploring how we can make full use of all features offered by Juro to completely refresh our templates and processes”.

“Juro’s customer support team was patient and supported us as we pushed Juro to its limits. We felt heard and Juro team members were always open to receiving and actioning our feedback. In some cases, we’d request a feature and three months later Juro would follow up with a link for us to test it out,” adds Mimi.
Today, Entourage manages almost all contracts in Juro, including those on third-party paper.
“We also manage third-party contracts in Juro, with all negotiations and comments happening there. Counterparties can work on third-party agreements in Juro and return their comments within the platform. It’s made us more efficient and organized,” Samara explains.
Creating contracts on their own paper is also quick and easy. “For an NDA, it takes 30 seconds to go in, add the specific information for that contract, and send it out,” says Samara. “From there, everything is tracked, visible, and easy to check.”
“When we need signatures to execute contracts, it’s just a matter of sharing a link quickly, and it’s extremely easy for stakeholders in the business to use. There’s no searching needed. Everyone knows Juro is our source of truth and they work confidently there.”
The new pace and efficiency are echoed by Entourage's VP People, Mimi: “We’ve seen immense time-savings and efficiencies in the development of contracts now that we’re using Juro,” she says. “It’s freed up my team’s time and it allows us to focus on more important things than chasing documents and versions.”

The results: Scaled contracts without scaling headcount
Using Juro has enabled Entourage’s legal and HR departments to dramatically improve contract processes without scaling headcount and costs.
“For us, the ROI of Juro can be measured in straight up labour dollars. Without Juro, my team couldn’t be as lean as it is,” explains Mimi. “If we were to lose Juro, our service levels would decrease and turnaround time for contracts would shift from an hour into days. We’d have to hire more bodies to do the work, and it would still take longer to get the work done”.

Juro has also given Entourage greater confidence in its contracts and the data they contain.
“Time, effort, accuracy and trust have all improved,” says Mimi. “I know I can run a search in Juro and trust that the information I find is full and accurate. It’s enabled us to be more confident in decisions that we make”.
Collaboration between the legal and HR functions has become easier, too. “We’re an extremely lean team and Juro helps us to save time and support the wider business with their contracting needs,” says Samara. “We have direct visibility and access. If HR ever needs help with a contract, we can jump straight in and edit the templates”.
“If our use case proves anything, it’s that Juro works effectively for other use cases and teams beyond legal”.
