Podimo is a premium entertainment service that partners with content creators around the world to deliver an extensive library of podcasts and audiobooks. Founded in Copenhagen in 2019, the platform has over 1000 exclusive shows, with a heavy focus on local-language content creators and partners.
The challenge: a fragmented contract process
With Podimo’s subscription base growing rapidly and the company planning to expand into new markets, the business needed a way to agree partnerships for new shows that scaled with them.
When Nick van Heynigen joined Podimo as their Senior Legal Counsel, the company was already feeling the pain of a fragmented and manual contract process.
Podimo’s content teams needed to get podcast agreements out to partners quickly, but were slowed down by inefficiencies. “We were bouncing around five different systems, with no communication between any of them” says Nick.
As the sole legal counsel and gatekeeper of contracts at the time, balancing working on the system as well as in it, proved tricky in a rapidly scaling environment. He needed a better way to address risks at a bigger scale, and empower the local teams to self-serve without needing to become legal experts themselves.
As well as blocking growth, contracts were a distraction from higher-value legal work: “It was getting progressively more painful as we grew. I needed to get out of the day-to-day contract admin and focus on more strategic work,” Nick said.
“Implementing Juro allowed us to focus on strategic legal work, like advising on deals, strategic partnerships, and M&As”

The requirements: what did Podimo need?
With Podimo looking to scale their partnerships and streamline the process used to agree these, they needed the following things:
- Podcast agreements on demand: they needed a tool that empowered their commercial teams to self-serve on podcast agreements in one place, without constant oversight from legal.
- One system for contracts: Podimo wanted to replace their fragmented contract process with an all-in-one contract tool that covered contracts from draft to signature and beyond.
- Quick and easy adoption: it was crucial that the tool was easy for the business to use and implement, enabling content and legal teams to adopt it quickly.
- Quality of support: the content team was tired of chasing their previous vendor for help and wanted faster, higher-quality support with their next tool.
- Visibility into contracts: users needed to track the status of podcast agreements in real time, enabling them to spot and remove bottlenecks quickly.
“I wanted a solution built by people who understood life as an in-house counsel, and that didn’t require a huge implementation effort,” Nick said. As the only contracts platform with a 9.9 support score on G2, Juro was the perfect fit.

The solution: 80+ business users self-serving on contracts
Podimo adopted Juro quickly after signing, with speedy onboarding and support from Juro’s implementation team. “Juro’s support team is always on the ball and your response times are extremely fast. Plus, feature requests and feedback are actually acted on” says Nick. “It gives the whole company confidence in the platform”.
Implementing Juro has enabled Podimo’s content teams to quickly and easily self-serve on podcast agreements using pre-approved templates and simple Q&A forms. This has led to adoption across the commercial team, with more than 80 business users creating and managing contracts in the platform so far. That’s almost a third of the entire company.

Juro removed bottlenecks for Podimo, but it also streamlined the use of templates in the business. “Rules in contract templates have enabled us to combine 6-7 agreements into one, saving us loads of time and confusion,” Nick explains.
Podimo also uses Juro’s contract dashboard and table views to parse and filter contracts, enabling users to quickly customize their view of contract data to suit their needs. “This gives us confidence when discussing contracts internally or with investors,” says Nick.
The results: contract turnaround time halved
Podimo has a lean legal function, so the time saved by implementing Juro goes a long way for the business. “Since implementing Juro, we’ve halved the time it takes to create and approve contracts to get them out for signing,” says Nick.
“The biggest ROI comes from having everything in one place. We’re no longer bouncing between several different systems, filing contracts manually, or getting blocked by individual backlogs. Our content teams can progress contracts much faster”.
Saving 50 per cent of time spent on routine contracts has also enabled Podimo’s legal function to focus on higher-value work instead. “Implementing Juro allowed us to focus on strategic legal work, like advising on deals, strategic partnerships, and M&As” explains Nick.

Juro has also given Podimo greater visibility into their contracts. “Agreements are visible at all times and we can track contract status with ease. We know where it’s stuck and can quickly identify inefficiencies to remove these bottlenecks” says Nick.
“Having so many workflows automated and everything captured in one place is a huge advantage. We’ve swapped out several tools for Juro, which saves us so much time”.
