If you need to sign a contract on your mobile phone, how do you do it quickly and safely?

How to add a signature on an iPhone

There are a few different ways for businesses to add their signature using an iPhone. They can either sign a document on an iPhone using the markup tool, or using mobile-responsive electronic signature software.

Both methods enable you to sign documents quickly and efficiently on mobile devices. However, the signing experience is considerably better when you use an electronic signature solution like Juro to sign contracts on an iPhone.

We’ll explain why later in this piece. But first, let’s cover what the process looks like using the markup tool and eSignature solutions

How to sign on an iPhone using the markup tool

One way to insert a signature on an iPhone is by using the markup tool. You can do this by following the steps outlined below.

1. Save a copy of the contract to the Files folder on your phone. You can do this by saving it directly from an email you’ve been sent.

2. Open the contract in your files app. Then scroll to the bottom where you want to add a signature.

3. Select the pen icon in the top right-hand corner of the screen. This is called the markup tool. It will open up a set of virtual pens for you to choose from. Most people use the black pen on the left. Click this pen to change the thickness of the pen.

4. Once you’ve selected your pen, simply draw a signature in the signature box using your finger. To make this easier and neater, you can zoom in on the contract.

5. After you’ve added your signature, select the share icon in the bottom left of the screen. This will give you the option to share the signed PDF document through different platforms or to save it to your files.

How to sign on an iPhone using Juro

If you want to deliver a faster, more professional signing experience for counterparties, you can allow them to sign contracts in Juro. Juro is compatible with a variety of devices, including mobiles. Here’s what the signing experience looks like for parties in Juro.

1. Open the signing link you’ve received, or the relevant contract if you’re already in Juro on your iPhone. This will open the contract. From there, scroll down to the part of the contract you need to sign, or select the ‘Sign’ button at the bottom of your screen (shown below).

2. Next, you’ll be prompted to choose between a hand-drawn signature or a typed one. If you select ‘Draw’ you’ll need to draw your signature using your finger or a stylus. If you select ‘Type’, you’ll see your full name appear as a signature.

3. Once you’re happy with your signature, click on the green ‘Sign’ button. You’ll then be taken to a screen notifying you that the document has been signed. You’ll also be sent a PDF copy of the signed contract via email once all of the parties have added their signatures.

What is the best way to sign contracts on an iPhone?

Both of the methods we’ve just described enable individuals and businesses to add eSignatures to contracts on a mobile. However, signing documents in Juro is often preferred for a few reasons.

Firstly, signing a contract using the markup tool requires more context-switching. To sign a contract on an iPhone, you’ll need to move the contract between different applications. But when you sign a contract in Juro on your mobile, you can add your signature in just a few clicks.

The signing experience is also far more professional in Juro than in the markup tool on an iPhone. This is important because the signing experience counterparties have determines how they perceive your company and how trustworthy you appear.

Fortunately, the counterparty experience in Juro is a positive one and counterparties love to sign contracts in our flexible platform, with 97 per cent of contracts that start in Juro ending in Juro.

However, the biggest advantage of using Juro to sign contracts is that Juro users can create, negotiate, approve, store and track contracts in Juro too. This is because Juro’s all-in-one platform enables your team to agree and manage contracts in one unified workspace.
