Icertis is a popular CLM solution for household brands. But is it right for your business?
To help you decide whether Icertis is a good fit for your business, we've created a detailed guide to Icertis' contract management solution, covering everything from features to pricing and what real customers think.
What is Icertis contract management?
Icertis is a contract management platform designed for enterprise businesses.
Also known as contract intelligence software, Icertis’ solution is focused on creating a system of record for contracts and their data, with large customers like Microsoft and Google using the platform to streamline contract storage.
Icertis won’t be the best fit for every business though. Like most vendors, there are a handful of areas where Icertis delivers a lot of value, and some limitations of the tool.
If you’re evaluating Icertis against your requirements, you’ll want to consider the following things:
- Features: which features are you looking for, and does Icertis offer them?
- Limitations: what don’t existing users like about Icertis?
- Pricing: how much will Icertis cost your business, and does it fit within your budget?
- Support: what support options are available for customers of your size?
- Customers: does Icertis work with businesses like yours already?
- Integrations: does Icertis integrate seamlessly with tools you already use?
- Reviews: what do existing Icertis customers say about their experience of the tool?
We’ll cover each of these considerations in more detail now, giving you the information you need to make an informed decision about which CLM software is right for your team.
Icertis features
Icertis adds most value post-signature by offering contract storage, dashboard and reporting functionality. Like Juro, it transforms contracts into structured data, giving teams full visibility into their legal agreements.
"It's extremely convenient to have all contracts in a central location" - Verified Icertis user, G2 review
Icertis also offers built-in risk scoring, making it easier to identify priority areas in negotiations and retain control of contracts. This can streamline the review process and reduce the time spent on third-party contracts.
"It has complete capabilities for minimizing risk, leveraging compliance and analytics" - Verified Icertis user, G2 review
Users can also set up notifications and reminders for upcoming contract deadlines, helping them stay on top of key dates and renewals.
However, the most notable benefit of Icertis is the level of customization that's possible in the platform.
As a solution geared towards enterprise businesses, Icertis provides a lot of custom configuration capabilities, but only with the help of their implementation team, which comes at a price.
Icertis limitations
While Icertis offers a rich feature set and a high level of customization, there are still some drawbacks of the tool, especially for younger and more modern businesses. Below are a few of these limitations, as mentioned in G2 reviews.
1. Dated and clunky user experience
A portion of independent reviews left by Icertis users describe the user interface as dated and uninutitive, with some users going as far as to say it’s “one of the worst” they’ve seen:
"The CLM market has evolved since 2019. Icertis has not" - Verified Icertis user, G2 review
“The user interface is possibly one of the worst modern SaaS applications I've seen in this regard” - Verified Icertis user, G2 review
Other Icertis customers have described how the user interface makes it harder to get things done since it introduces additional steps, or barriers to completing certain tasks:
"Some of the user interfaces require too many clicks to reach the desired function or record" - Verified Icertis user, G2
2. Lengthy or painful implementation processes
Independent reviews left by Icertis users also suggest that the implementation process can be long and tedious. In fact, Icertis were sued over an alleged failed implementation back in 2021.
“It was not a very pleasant experience working with Icertis implementation partner” - Verified Icertis user, G2 review
“We were asked to come in after implementation to support/clean up the mess” - Verified Icertis user, G2 review
The complexity of the tool, and the length of the implementation processes, can also hinder adoption across the business, particularly if it makes the new solution more complicated than the existing process.
This is something to consider if you're looking to get to value quickly and would prefer something out-of-the-box.
3. Lacks some native functionality
Another notable limitation is the fact that Icertis doesn't offer all features natively and relies on integrations instead. For example, Icertis doesn't have a native electronic signature solution built into the platform. Instead, Icertis integrates with third party providers like DocuSign or Adobe Sign to get agreements over the line.
“I dislike not having a signing module within Icertis and having to use a third party provider for this” - Verified Icertis user, G2 review
"Icertis has a weak eSignature integration in comparison with the strength of the overall tool" - Verified Icertis user, G2 review
Juro is a better alternative to Icertis in all of thes areas, based on independent reviews:
- Jurooffers end-to-end contract management functionality, enabling you to agree contracts in one unified workspace.
- Juro is widely known for having fast and effective implementations, getting you to value in weeks - not months.
- Juro's modern UI makes the platform easy for the entire business to use, with adoption across sales, HR, finance and operations teams - not just legal.
