DocuSign and everSign offer a fast, efficient way to get contracts signed. But which one is right for your business? Find out in this detailed comparison.

DocuSign and eversign are both popular eSigning tools, but each for different reasons. One is better for larger businesses and more complex use cases, while the other offers users a simpler and streamlined signing experience.

To help you find the best tool for your needs, we’ve assessed which electronic signature solution performs better across eight different criteria:

  • Features
  • Ease of use
  • Security
  • Customization
  • Integrations
  • Device accessibility
  • Pricing
  • Customer support

But before we get into how the two tools compare, let’s begin with a brief overview of the platforms.

What is DocuSign?

DocuSign is a leading eSignature platform with over a billion users and 80 per cent of the electronic signature market share. The company is headquartered in San Francisco and has plenty of high-profile customers, including Unilever, Samsung, Salesforce, and Apple.

What is eversign?

Eversign is a European electronic signature solution with more than four million users. The company is considerably smaller than DocuSign, but it serves small businesses well, and for a reasonable price.

DocuSign vs eversign: how do they compare?

1. Features

DocuSign offers more features than eversign, and the features that both platforms offer tend to be more advanced in DocuSign.

That said, DocuSign and eversign both enable users to add secure and legally binding electronic signatures to documents, which is enough for small businesses looking for a simple way to sign contracts online.

Eversign users can place electronic signatures using the platform’s drag-and-drop functionality and send automated signing reminders to prompt counterparties to add their signatures.

Like eversign, DocuSign enables users to sign contracts remotely and in person, making it an excellent option for commercial agreements that happen online and offline.

However, it’s worth noting that DocuSign’s document editor is considerably more powerful than the editor in eversign. DocuSign’s editor can manage a wide range of file types, including .doc, .docx, .pdf, .xls, while eversign’s document editor is more restrictive.

DocuSign users can also tag these documents, while eversign users can not. This is an important feature gap to bear in mind if you’re keen to track contracts as well as sign them.

DocuSign and eversign aren’t designed to manage your contracts from start to finish. If streamlining the way you create and track your contracts is a priority for your business, you need an all-in-one contract automation platform like Juro.

2. Ease of use

Eversign tends to be easier to use than DocuSign. This is probably because eversign offers fewer and simpler features than DocuSign, making it easier to navigate.

In fact, lots of independent reviews praiNeed to do more than just sign contracts?Need to do more than just sign contracts?se how easy eversign is to use. Numerous reviews even compare it directly to DocuSign, describing it as simpler to work with than the eSignature giant:

We recently transitioned from DocuSign to eversign and it's been much easier for us to manage and navigate - Verified eversign user, G2
Eversign's user-friendly interface allows those with limited technical knowledge to sign legal agreements effectively and affordably - Verified eversign user, G2

By comparison, Independent DocuSign reviews suggest that DocuSign is slightly more difficult to use:

Customizing DocuSign agreements can become cumbersome for both parties. The last thing you want is to cause confusion and slow down the sales cycle - Verified DocuSign user, G2

Meanwhile, other DocuSign users say that it strikes a good balance between customization and usability:

It is simple enough to make templates that you can share with your team while complex enough to have them designed for your work needs - Verified DocuSign user, G2

This may be because larger businesses with more complex requirements will be willing to invest more time into setting up and learning to use the tool. Meanwhile, smaller businesses that only need basic features may prefer a quicker and easier tool.

Juro is rated 9.1 out of 10 for ease of use on G2, making it one of the top-rated contract management solutions when it comes to ease of use. This enables business teams to self-serve on contracts, rather than relying on legal. To find out more, book a personalized demo with one of our specialists.

3. Security

Both DocuSign and eversign meet stringent security requirements. This makes them suitable for a variety of businesses, industries, and transactions.

But let’s look into the specific security features available in each tool so you can compare them in more detail.

Eversign users can protect documents using an access pin or an SMS code. Users can also set documents to expire automatically after a certain time period. Transactions in eversign are also encrypted using industry-standard 256-bit HTTPS Encryption

Like DocuSign, eversign also offers thorough authentication processes for signatories. This is important functionality since it prevents electronic signatures from being forged.

Like Juro, both tools also provide a detailed audit trail that documents when changes were made along with other important information like the party’s names, IP addresses, and the time of signing.

This makes it easy for users to look back on the contract’s lifecycle and identify which changes were made, and when.

Below are some independent reviews from eversign users about the platform’s security:

Another advantage of eversign is its robust security features, including encrypted storage of documents and electronic signatures - Verified eversign user, G2
While Eversign might provide short-term convenience for managing and observing pending actions, it does not have the same security precautions in place as DocuSign - Verified eversign user, G2

Below are some independent reviews from eversign users about the platform’s security:

The identity proofing and authentication feature makes the process of verifying a customers identity more foolproof - Verified DocuSign user, G2
I like that they value security over everything as it gives me the peace of mind I need to feel comfortable using it for sensitive business documents - Verified DocuSign user, G2

Juro offers robust data security and powerful encryption for its users, as well as advanced electronic signatures that comply with the requirements of UETA, the ESIGN Act, eiDAS, and other relevant legislation. To find out more, check out our security page.

4. Customization

Both DocuSign and eversign offer customization and branding options for their users. This means that users can customize their workspace and add their branding to their agreements before sending them out for signing.

Small business reviewers speak positively about the branding and customization options available in eversign. In particular, reviews on G2 mention how eversign offers branding and customization options in their free package, which many eSignature tools do not:

When we came across eversign we were happy to find it has much better branding options in the free account along with higher limits on the free tier - Verified eversign user, G2
The features most important to me are business branding, email reminders, and redirect to a payment portal after e-signing, and eversign includes those even at a free level - Verified eversign user, G2

Clearly, eversign’s users are satisfied with the level of customization available in the free plan. However, businesses that are willing to pay more for customization will likely find that DocuSign offers more advanced customization options than eversign.

For example, DocuSign users can benefit from custom workflows and API integrations, but only in DocuSign’s more expensive plans. This makes DocuSign a better-positioned tool for enterprise companies that need to build more complex workflows.

5. Integrations

DocuSign has more native integrations than eversign, making it a popular choice for businesses that need to roll the eSignature tool out across multiple departments.

While both tools integrate with Dropbox, Gmail, Google Drive, and box, many of eversign’s other integrations can only be accessed via Zapier (a connector). This means that, although eversign customers can access tools like Hubspot, Salesforce, and Slack, these integrations aren’t native - unlike in Juro.

DocuSign offers a wide range of native integrations, allowing users to integrate the eSigning platform with enterprise tools like Microsoft, Oracle, and SAP.

But it’s worth noting that the tool with more integrations won’t always be better for your business. In fact, if you choose DocuSign just because it connects with more platforms, you could find yourself paying extra for integrations you’ll never use.

Some independent reviews of eversign suggest that the tool offers a lot of the most important features for small businesses. The most important thing to consider is which specific integrations you need, and how much you’re willing to pay for these.

Below are some G2 reviews from verified eversign users about the tool’s integrations:

The platform integrates seamlessly with popular tools such as Google Drive, Dropbox, and Zapier - Verified eversign user, G2
“We never needed the huge selection of integration that DocuSign have and this is why you are paying them more, unless you need these features its a no-brainer to go with eversign” - Verified eversign user, G2

Below are some G2 reviews from verified DocuSign users about the tool’s integrations:

The Salesforce integration is my favorite feature. It's come a long way in the past few years and is very easy to use and set up - Verified DocuSign user, G2
We can automate most of the manual work with the help of integrations. The entire process is cost-effective and consumes very less time - Verified DocuSign user, G2

Juro integrates with more than 5000 apps, including native integrations with Salesforce, HubSpot, Greenhouse, Slack, and Workday. To find out more about Juro’s integrations, get in touch with our contract specialists today.

6. Device compatibility

If you’re looking for an eSigning solution that works on lots of different devices, DocuSign is a better option than eversign

Unlike DocuSign, eversign can only be accessed through your browser and not via a separate app on mobile devices. This is something that eversign users have expressed frustration about in independent reviews:

I don't like that I can't access eversign from my mobile device, even online. To get around this inconvenience, I always have a laptop nearby - Verified eversign user, G2
Eversign is not available on mobile devices. It would be much more convenient if I could access and sign documents from any device without being tied to a desktop browser or computer - Verified eversign user, G2

While this doesn’t stop eversign users from managing documents via their mobile, only certain parts of eversign’s platform are optimized for mobile devices. This means that the user experience on mobile is limited.

According to independent reviews on G2, DocuSign offers a better user experience across mobile devices. Here’s what reviewers have to say about DocuSign’s compatibility with different devices:

I think the best thing about DocuSign is that it is accessible anywhere via smartphone, tablet, laptop, and PC - Verified DocuSign user, G2
I like that DocuSign works with the devices and apps that I already have. I don't have to download a specific app or purchase a new device. I can use DocuSign on my laptop, smartphone, and tablet - Verified DocuSign user, G2

Juro enables businesses to sign contracts in seconds using any device thanks to its mobile-responsive layout. To find out more about Juro’s functionality across different devices, book a personalized demo today.

7. Pricing

Eversign is a cheaper alternative to DocuSign. This makes it a better fit for small businesses with lower budgets.

According to G2, eversign offers four different plans. Their free plan allows users to sign up to five documents per month. Meanwhile, five signatures a month for one user will cost DocuSign users $10 per month.

Eversign’s next cheapest plan is their basic plan, which is priced at $9.99 per month. They also offer a professional plan for up to five team members at $39.99, and a professional plus plan for $79.99 for up to 15 team members.

DocuSign’s least expensive plan is their personal plan which includes five ‘envelopes’ per month. Eversign’s basic plan allows users to send an unlimited number of documents for signing for the same price.

Overall, eversign users are happy with the tool’s affordable pricing plans. This is validated by the G2 reviews left by verified eversign users:

Eversign seems to pack a lot of punch at a pretty affordable price point compared to alternatives - Verified eversign user, G2
I've used a handful of different e-signing software and this is by far the easiest and has the best features around the price it's being offered for - Verified eversign user, G2

The price is also excellent; I couldn't find any other service that came close and still had the features we needed - Verified eversign user, G2

Meanwhile, DocuSign users find the tool to have higher costs. This is validated by the G2 reviews left by verified DocuSign users:

Though a steep price is attached, the features and security it offers are worth the investment - Verified DocuSign user, G2
DocuSign is the most expensive and you will pay per envelope used. In my business, I don't need all the bells and whistles - Verified DocuSign user, G2

8. Customer support

Eversign customers can receive dedicated customer support, but only if they are on paid plans. Those on free plans will need to use the help center or request support via email instead.

By comparison, DocuSign users can contact customer support via web chat, email, and phone, meaning they have more options when reaching out for help.

That said, independent reviews of eversign and DocuSign suggest that the quality of support received is better for eversign users. While eversign users praise the company’s responsiveness and speed, DocuSign users have shared their frustrations about the level of support they receive.

Below are some reviews from G2 left by verified eversign users:

“The staff have been incredibly responsive to our questions and needs, going above and beyond what one might expect to help us get up and running quickly” - Verified eversign user, G2
I really appreciate the fact that they have great customer service and it is super simple to set up the account - Verified eversign user, G2

Below are some reviews from G2 left by verified DocuSign users about the support they receive:

They messed up our billing and then wanted to come to us and have us pay twice so that they can fix their accounting. The request was completely unprofessional - Verified DocuSign user, G2
I've been trying to contact support for a month. Unfortunately without success. I couldn't get anything done. I've spent many hours on this one simple problem - Verified DocuSign user, G2

Juro is top-rated for the quality of support customers receive, with a score of 9.8 out of 10 on G2. To find out more about Juro’s outstanding customer support and rapid response times, get in touch with our team.

Eversign vs DocuSign: which is best for your business overall?

When deciding between DocuSign and eversign, you need to assess your business priorities and get a good idea of the specific features and integrations you require.

While DocuSign offers a lot of functionality, it also comes at a higher cost, so it won’t be worthwhile for small businesses with basic needs and limited budgets.

But if you have a larger budget and require more extensive features and integrations, DocuSign might be a better fit for your needs.

But what if you need more than just eSigning functionality?

Need to do more than just sign contracts?

DocuSign and eversign are great options for businesses that simply need to add electronic signatures to their documents, but they won’t provide the functionality businesses need to manage their contracts from start to finish.

Teams that use DocuSign and eversign will still need to jump between Word, eSignature, and email to get deals over the line.

If you want a solution that streamlines the entire contract lifecycle and enables you to manage your contracts from end to end, you’ll need a contract management solution like Juro. Juro enables teams to create, negotiate, sign, store, and manage contracts - all in one workspace. To find out more, fill in the form below to book a personalized demo.
